Belle's World - Follow Up

women on a cell phone following up from a networking event

You just left a productive networking event full of great conversations. Now what? Don’t just file those business cards away in a drawer. Follow up the right way to build real relationships.

  • Personalize your outreach based on what you discussed. Show you were listening.

  • Connect on LinkedIn with a note referencing your conversation. Share any useful articles or connections related to what you talked about.

  • Suggest meeting up or chatting further about shared interests.

  • Don’t overcomplicate it. A simple email touching base goes a long way.

  • Focus on continuing a dialogue, not just pitching something.

  • Follow up consistently, but avoid sounding salesy or pushy.

  • See follow up as the beginning of a relationship, not a one-off task.

After your next event, implement these follow up tips. You’ll be surprised how it strengthens connections when done genuinely.

With an intentional, personal approach, following up after networking is an art that builds relationships. Don’t drop the ball post-event!
